Simba Chinyemba Appointed Chairperson of Institute of Directors Zimbabwe

Harare – July 22, 2025 — The Chief Investment Officer of the Mutapa Investment Fund, Mr. Simba Chinyemba, has been appointed Chairperson of the Institute of Directors Zimbabwe (IoDZ), marking a significant moment for corporate governance in the country.

The announcement was met with congratulatory messages from various sectors, including a public endorsement by NetOne Cellular (Pvt) Ltd. In a full-page notice, the telecommunications giant hailed Chinyemba’s “visionary leadership and integrity,” saying his appointment would “elevate boardroom standards and inspire a new generation of leaders.”

Mr. Chinyemba’s appointment comes at a time when Zimbabwe is seeking to restore investor confidence and strengthen institutional transparency. As CIO of the Mutapa Investment Fund, he has played a key role in driving strategic investments and reforming corporate governance structures in state-linked enterprises.

“Your stewardship will attract investment and restore confidence in Zimbabwe’s institutions,” reads part of the NetOne message.

The Institute of Directors Zimbabwe plays a critical role in promoting excellence in leadership and ethical governance. Observers say Chinyemba’s elevation signals a renewed push for accountability and sustainability in both public and private sectors.
