An upcoming musician from Bocha Marange has hailed Radio Zimbabwe’s show at Bambazonke as a major boost for rural artists, saying the event provided an opportunity for local talent to gain exposure and interact with established musicians.

King Shutso, an emerging artist from Bocha Marange, said the programme held on Saturday, 31 October, had helped raise the profile of musicians from rural communities who often struggle to access platforms to showcase their talent.

The show brought together musicians, business organisations and residents, with performances from Tryson and Allan Chimbetu, Sugar Sugar, Josphat Somanje and King Shutso, among others.

Speaking on the sidelines of the event, Shutso said he was excited to share the stage with established musicians, describing the programme as an important platform for upcoming artists.

“I am happy because the coming of Radio Zimbabwe to our area is meant to raise us, those who stay in rural areas, including upcoming artists.

“I rubbed shoulders with great artists such as the Chimbetus and Sugar Sugar, the Mudododo hit-maker,” said Shutso.

He said such initiatives were important in giving rural-based musicians opportunities to showcase their abilities and build connections within the music industry.

The event also featured Manengureni Family Trust, NetOne, Econet and AFC Holdings, which brought their services and activities closer to residents.

NetOne representatives were also available to assist residents with SIM card registration, the sale of SIM cards for US$1, airtime and OneMoney registration.

Residents who attended the show expressed satisfaction with the programme, calling on Radio Zimbabwe and its partners to continue bringing similar initiatives to Bocha Marange.

They said the event had not only provided entertainment but had also created opportunities for local artists and brought services closer to the rural community.
