By Fanuel Chinowaita – Sakubva Stadium, Mutare

Deportivo La Murambinda FC claimed a hard-fought 3–2 victory over Mutare City Rovers FC in a pulsating Week 27 Pacific Storm Eastern Region Soccer League clash played yesterday at Sakubva Stadium.

The game started at a high tempo, with Rovers showing early dominance in possession and creating several chances in the opening minutes.

However, Murambinda weathered the storm and took the lead in the 35th minute, shifting the momentum in their favour. Khumalo Byson then added a second before halftime, sending the visitors into the break leading 2–1.

After the interval, Mutare City Rovers came back fired up, pressing high in search of an equaliser. In the 66th minute a shot took a heavy deflection off Lenon Machaya and ended up in the net, extending Murambinda’s lead to 3–1 — the goal was credited to Deportivo La Murambinda.

Refusing to give up, Rovers continued to fight and pulled one back through Tinashe Mangezi in the 77th minute, setting up a tense finale.

Despite late pressure from the home side, Murambinda held firm to secure all three points.
The match also saw an early yellow card for Rovers’ Brightwish Dharamachi and a caution for Murambinda coach Ben Chari in the second half.

Rovers made substitutions including Do Gonora and Raymond Manangazira as they chased a comeback.
