HARARE, 7 August 2026 \u2014<\/strong> Zimbabwean telecommunications operator NetOne has intensified its environmental campaign, carrying out a nationwide clean-up exercise across seven cities and towns as part of efforts to support the government\u2019s environmental conservation agenda.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The company said its monthly One Mega Clean-Up Campaign<\/strong> was conducted simultaneously in Harare, Bulawayo, Mutare, Masvingo, the Midlands, Bindura and Chitungwiza, bringing together employees, local authorities, environmental agencies and community groups.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The initiative forms part of Zimbabwe\u2019s National Clean-Up Programme<\/strong>, launched by President Emmerson Mnangagwa, which designates the first Friday of every month as National Clean-Up Day.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In Harare, NetOne joined the Ministry of Information Communication Technology, Postal and Courier Services, as well as the Postal and Telecommunications Regulatory Authority of Zimbabwe (POTRAZ), TelOne, Zimpost and ZARNET for the clean-up.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In other parts of the country, NetOne\u2019s regional teams worked with local authorities, the Environmental Management Agency (EMA), residents\u2019 associations, community-based organisations and other stakeholders.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The activities included cleaning public spaces and raising awareness about proper waste disposal, environmental conservation and community responsibility.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

NetOne Public Relations Manager Ernest Magadzire said environmental sustainability was an important part of the company\u2019s corporate social investment programme.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cAt NetOne, we believe that building a digitally connected Zimbabwe goes hand in hand with building clean, healthy and sustainable communities,\u201d Magadzire said.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

He said the campaign was intended to complement government environmental initiatives while strengthening cooperation between the telecommunications company, communities and local authorities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cTogether, we are creating environments that support economic growth, public health and the realisation of Vision 2030,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

The company said the campaign also supports the government\u2019s devolution and decentralisation programme by allowing its regional teams to work with local stakeholders on environmental challenges specific to their communities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

NetOne said environmental management was increasingly important to economic productivity, public health and the resilience of national infrastructure.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The company also linked the clean-up campaign to the objectives of the National Development Strategy 2 (NDS2)<\/strong>, which places emphasis on environmental protection, climate resilience and sustainable waste management as part of Zimbabwe\u2019s broader socio-economic development strategy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The campaign comes as Zimbabwe prepares to mark Heroes Day and Defence Forces Day<\/strong>, with NetOne saying it would continue to support national development through environmental stewardship, digital inclusion and community empowerment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The company said its continued participation in the monthly clean-up programme was part of its broader effort to align corporate social investment with national development priorities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
