Each ward has been allocated days for road maintenance,” said Mukodza. She also blamed heavy trucks for damaging roads in residential areas and urged transport operators to comply with council regulations.“Trucks should avoid using roads in Ward 6 because they are destroying them. They must park at designated places. Only trucks making deliveries are allowed to use our roads,” she said. The meeting also addressed concerns over the grave levy charged by council, with some residents questioning its purpose. Mukodza clarified that the levy is paid by residents intending to erect tombstones and is used for record keeping and monitoring cemetery visits. She added that cemetery maintenance remains the responsibility of council authorities.Residents further complained about high water charges and difficulties in settling outstanding arrears. In response, Mukodza encouraged residents struggling with unpaid bills to approach council offices and negotiate payment plans.“Residents must visit council offices for payment arrangements to clear arrears. People should also ensure that they close taps properly to avoid unnecessary water charges,” she said. The councillor also urged residents to maintain cleanliness in the community by avoiding littering and making proper use of bins. She assured residents that council has enough trucks to carry out refuse collection services in the area.

Residents Raise Concern Over Dangerous Roads, High Water Bills at Chikanga Ward 6 Feedback Meeting By Heather Buzuzi Mutare, 18 May 2026 – Residents in Ward 6, Chikanga, have raised concern over deteriorating roads and potholes near Murahwa Primary School, warning that the damaged roads are putting the lives of schoolchildren at risk. The concerns were…

{"_jetpack_memberships_contains_paid_content":false

1

post-2130","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-uncategorized
["GET
