This league is about transparency, order and giving players value for their money,” said Mukweza.

The league will accommodate a maximum of 10 teams, with each side expected to play two matches per month, mainly on Sundays. Matches will follow standard football rules, although flexibility is allowed in exceptional circumstances such as force majeure. Each team will contribute US$5 towards referees’ fees, with match officials assigned by a referee coordinator.

The inaugural Match Day One will be played on Sunday, with all matches starting at 2:30pm, a time deliberately chosen to avoid weather interruptions.

“We agreed to start games at 2:30pm to avoid rain disturbances.
