MUTARE \u2013 December 2, 2025<\/strong> \u2013 Zimbabwe Anti-Corruption Commission (ZACC) Commissioner Chido Mwadiwa delivered the keynote address at a major stakeholders’ meeting in Mutare on Monday, calling for a unified national effort to refine and adopt the country’s next blueprint against corruption.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Speaking at the Golden Peacock Hotel, Commissioner Mwadiwa presented the main address for the National Anti-Corruption Strategy (NACS 2) Validation Meeting, outlining the critical next steps in Zimbabwe’s anti-graft agenda.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The high-level meeting, part of a nationwide consultative drive, brought together leaders from Manicaland’s government, judiciary, private sector, and civil society to scrutinise the draft NACS 2 document ahead of its finalisation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In her address, Commissioner Mwadiwa announced that the new strategy builds on the recorded successes of NACS 1, which achieved over 61% success in key corruption investigation and prevention metrics during its implementation from 2020 to 2024.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“The success of this Strategy depends not only on Chapter 13 institutions but on every public and private institution, every leader, and every stakeholder represented here,” Commissioner Mwadiwa stated, emphasising the need for a collective “whole-of-society” approach.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

She detailed that NACS 2 is being meticulously aligned with national priorities under the National Development Strategy 2 (NDS2), as well as with regional and international frameworks, including the African Union Convention on Preventing and Combating Corruption and the United Nations Convention Against Corruption.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Commissioner urged participants to engage rigorously with the draft. “Fellow colleagues, let us refine this Strategy so that, once adopted, it becomes a strong foundation for coordinated action, effective prevention, robust enforcement, and sustained public awareness,” she said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Mutare consultation is a pivotal step in ensuring the national strategy reflects provincial perspectives, particularly from key economic and transit hubs like Manicaland. Insights from yesterday’s deliberations will be integrated into the final strategy before its official launch.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Concluding her keynote, Commissioner Mwadiwa issued a firm reminder of every citizen’s role: “We are in this fight together. I urge you to REFUSE, RESIST AND REPORT CORRUPTION.”<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
