The event brought together government ministries, local authorities, development partners, and dozens of women exhibitors from across the city and province.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In her keynote address, Senator Mutsvangwa said the expo represented a declaration of Zimbabwe\u2019s determination to empower women and build an inclusive economy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThis vibrant gathering is a dynamic marketplace of hope and a clear demonstration that MSMEs are the bedrock upon which we are building a prosperous, empowered and self-reliant Zimbabwe,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Minister praised Mutare City Council for its multi-pronged empowerment strategy, including the establishment of women\u2019s clubs, financial literacy training, value-addition skills and the creation of market linkages through participation at ZITF, Sanganai\/Hlanganani and agricultural shows.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>She also highlighted national initiatives under her ministry, among them the statutory Apex Board for Women in Business and partnerships with the Zimbabwe Chamber of MSMEs to support business formalisation and expand access to finance and markets.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThere can be no meaningful achievement of Vision 2030 without the full and equal economic inclusion of our women,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Minister of State for Provincial Affairs and Devolution, Hon. Misheck Mugadza, told delegates that the expo reflects the Second Republic\u2019s development philosophy of ensuring no place and no person is left behind.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThis event is not just a showcase; it is a powerful statement about the economic dynamism and entrepreneurial spirit residing within the women of our communities,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He added that Local Economic Development (LED) was central to the National Development Strategy 1 (NDS1), noting that Mutare was positioning itself as a self-sustaining economic hub through such initiatives.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThe products you see today are not just commodities; they are the engines of Mutare\u2019s economic future,\u201d Mugadza said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"720\" height=\"479\" src=\"https:\/\/thewasupost.co.zw\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/11\/FB_IMG_17635396104826110.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-1391\" srcset=\"https:\/\/thewasupost.co.zw\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/11\/FB_IMG_17635396104826110.jpg 720w, https:\/\/thewasupost.co.zw\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/11\/FB_IMG_17635396104826110-300x200.jpg 300w, https:\/\/thewasupost.co.zw\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/11\/FB_IMG_17635396104826110-600x400.jpg 600w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 720px) 100vw, 720px\" \/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\"><strong><em>Dep Mayor J. Nyamhoka and Town Clerk K. B. Chafesuka <\/em><\/strong><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Mutare City Town Clerk, Blessing Kapuya Chafesuka, said the Women Empowerment programme\u2014now in its fifth year\u2014was moving into a new phase focused on structural support for SMEs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He revealed that, following consultations with the Minister of Women Affairs, the city had been tasked with providing land for SME growth.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cWe will see how we support it,\u201d he said. \u201cThere must be a policy shift that supports SMEs.
