MUTARE, 10 November 2025<\/strong>\u2013 The 2025 edition of the Pacific Storm Soccer Tournament concluded in spectacular fashion at Chisamba Ground in Sakubva yesterday, with Mutare City emerging champions after defeating Rozvi FC 1\u20130 in a tightly contested final.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The tournament, which featured six competitive teams; Mutare City, Rozvi FC, Quarry FC, All Stars, Tapitapi, and Chipolopolo, was hailed for its discipline, organisation and community spirit.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Semi-Final Showdowns<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Mutare City edged Chipolopolo 1\u20130 in the first semi-final to advance to the final, while Rozvi FC drew 1\u20131 with Quarry FC before winning 7\u20136 on penalties to claim the other final slot.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A packed Chisamba Ground braved the chilly weather to witness Mutare City claim victory in their maiden Pacific Storm appearance. The team sealed a hard-fought 1\u20130 win over Rozvi FC, crowning them champions of the 2025 edition.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Both Mutare City and Rozvi FC have qualified to represent Mutare in the National Finals in Harare on 12 December.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Tournament organiser Frank Bhunu said the event had reignited football energy in the city.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWe are very grateful and thrilled by Pacific Storm. The tournament truly energised Mutare. We urge other corporates to come on board so that we may continue keeping the city alive. We will meet again for the National match in Harare on 12 December,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Michael Muchena, another organiser, applauded the teams and the sponsor.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWhat an amazing soccer tournament! Everything was well-organised, from the schedules to the fields. Congratulations to all the teams for their performances and sportsmanship. A massive thank you to Pacific Storm for making this event possible.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“Chisamba Ground was the place to be \u2014 fans endured the chilly weather to watch six teams battling it out. Congratulations to Mutare City, who have booked their spot at the Clash of Champions in Harare alongside Rozvi FC,\u201d said Muchena.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Godwin Sithole, also part of the organising committee, noted the growing community enthusiasm.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cPeople are now enjoying their weekends again and starting to love local soccer. This tournament brought happiness to Mutare,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Pacific Storm Marketing Manager, Kuda Chiutsi, said final preparations for the national tournament were underway.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWe will put out a public notice on our social media pages regarding the official dates and venue details of the national tournament,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Phillip Munyanduki, coach of Mutare City, expressed joy and optimism following his team\u2019s triumph.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cI am happy because it\u2019s my first time to run a team alone. This has made my name because I won the race and now the name is recognised in the City Council. If we win today, I am sure we will win the National Tournament in Harare,\u201d Munyanduki said proudly.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Goalkeeper of the Tournament award went to David Rupiya, who impressed fans and organisers with his consistency and match-winning saves.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
