Mutare, 18 October 2025<\/strong><\/em> -ZANU PF delegates at the party\u2019s 22nd Annual National People\u2019s Conference held in Mutare today endorsed a raft of key resolutions, including extending President Emmerson Mnangagwa\u2019s term of office from 2028 to 2030 and strengthening the ZiG currency as the sole legal tender.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In one of the major resolutions, the conference \u201cdirected the Secretary for Legal Affairs to implement the extension of the President\u2019s term from 2028 to 2030 by next year\u2019s conference,\u201d<\/em> marking a significant political development within the ruling party.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The party also resolved that \u201cgovernment must deploy ideologically grounded cadres in the civil service to strengthen patriotism and loyalty to national objectives.\u201d<\/em> Delegates said this move was crucial in ensuring that public institutions remain aligned with ZANU PF\u2019s vision of national development.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On economic matters, the conference reaffirmed its support for the Zimbabwe Gold (ZiG) currency, stating that government should \u201cstrengthen and support the ZiG to ensure it becomes the sole currency,\u201d<\/em> and \u201cremove the IMTT on electronic money transfers\u201d<\/em> to stimulate business activity. Delegates also called for measures to \u201cimprove the durability of ZiG notes\u201d<\/em> and to \u201cprioritize value addition and beneficiation of local minerals.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The conference further directed government to \u201cexpedite the issuance of title deeds,\u201d<\/em> \u201cclear historical debt under the BEAM program,\u201d<\/em> and \u201caccelerate the provision of social safety nets to vulnerable citizens.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Addressing public service concerns, delegates resolved that \u201cthe benefits of public servants and pensioners must be reviewed,\u201d<\/em> and that \u201call district hospitals and nurse training schools should be upgraded to meet modern standards.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The party also prescribed \u201cterm limits for Town Clerks, Chief Executive Officers, and local authority heads\u201d<\/em> as part of its local governance reforms.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Infrastructure and social development featured prominently in the discussions. The conference directed government to \u201cmodernise all border posts to meet international standards,\u201d<\/em> \u201cimprove the railway network,\u201d<\/em> and \u201cscale up the provision of low-cost housing and renewable energy projects.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Other resolutions included the establishment of \u201ca comprehensive road accident fund,\u201d<\/em> \u201cexpedited procurement of essential medicines,\u201d<\/em> and the \u201cintensification of environmental protection laws, including the preservation of wetlands.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Delegates also emphasized the need to \u201cestablish a School of Hospitality in Victoria Falls, cascading to all provinces\u201d<\/em> to enhance skills development in the tourism sector.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
