Controversial social commentator Tawona Shadaya has stirred debate on social media after publicly defending Julius Malema amid unverified reports that the South African opposition leader’s wife filed for divorce over alleged infidelity.

In a strongly worded post circulating online, Shadaya questioned why there was public outrage over claims that Malema may have been involved with another woman. He argued that powerful men often attract multiple partners and suggested that such dynamics are a reality of influence and status.

“If Malema can have men follow him, willing to even die for him, what makes you think women won’t follow him?” Shadaya wrote.
He further claimed that divorcing a man over infidelity reflects misplaced priorities, asserting that men are not naturally wired for sexual exclusivity.

According to Shadaya, a man’s primary responsibilities in a relationship are “provision, protection, problem-solving and penetration.”

Shadaya also stated that “a powerful man doesn’t cheat, he practices options,” a remark that has since drawn both support and sharp criticism online.

The comments have reignited broader conversations around relationships, power, fidelity and gender expectations in modern society. Critics argue that such statements promote harmful stereotypes and undermine the principles of mutual respect and commitment in marriage. Supporters, however, say Shadaya was simply expressing a candid opinion about social realities.

As of publication, Economic Freedom Fighters leader Malema has not publicly addressed the circulating divorce claims, and no official confirmation has been issued regarding the matter.

The story continues to generate mixed reactions across social media platforms.
