Chipinge, 20 February 2026 – A 19-year-old Chipinge man has been arrested in connection with a series of thefts at Chipinge Musika Flea Market, where clothing and footwear valued at US$2 137 were stolen over a three-month period.
Police confirmed that Jayden Domingo (19) of DMB location, Gaza, Chipinge, is facing theft charges as defined in Section 113 of the Criminal Law (Codification and Reform) Act [Chapter 9:23].
The complainants in the matter are Sipiwe Mhlanga (33) of St Kelvin, Chipinge and Hardlife Gwenzi (25) of Gaza ‘O’ location, Chipinge.
It is alleged that between November 30, 2025 and February 10, 2026, Domingo unlawfully entered a secured yard at Chipinge Musika Flea Market on three separate occasions and stole sacks containing assorted clothing and shoes belonging to the two vendors.

Narrating the incident, Mhlanga said she later received information about the whereabouts of her goods.
“I received a tip-off that my stolen clothes were in Gaza location. I quickly teamed up with others and we alerted the police,” she said.
She added, “After informing the police, investigations were carried out which led to the arrest of the suspect.”
Police arrested Domingo on February 16, 2026. Following his arrest, a substantial quantity of the stolen property was recovered.
Police sources said, “Property worth US$1 461 has been recovered so far and investigations are still in progress.”
Property stolen from Mhlanga was valued at US$1 487 and included dozens of clothing items such as T-shirts, jeans, skirts, trousers, bras, socks, flip flops, school socks, satchels, travelling bags and safety shoes.
Goods stolen from Gwenzi were valued at US$650 and comprised jean trousers, skirts, tops, T-shirts, ladies’ pants and footwear.
