Mutare, 26 November 2025 — One person is feared dead after a Honda Fit and an Isuzu double cab were involved in a devastating head-on collision this afternoon at Fernvalley along the Mutare–Masvingo Highway.
The crash occurred at around 1500 hours, leaving the two vehicles completely wrecked, their front sections crushed together in a violent impact that sent debris flying across the road.
In a dramatic twist, a truck loaded with sand, which was travelling towards Mutare, also veered off the road and overturned, reportedly while trying to avoid the already-collided vehicles blocking the lane. The truck landed on its side just off the highway, adding to the chaos at the scene.
Construction workers and passers-by rushed to assist as emergency services were alerted. Witnesses said one victim showed no signs of life, although police had not yet officially confirmed the fatality at the time of writing.
The number of injured passengers from the three vehicles remains unclear.
This section of the Mutare–Masvingo Highway has become increasingly busy and today’s crash has ignited renewed concerns about speeding and dangerous overtaking.
The Wasu Post will update this story as more details emerge.
