Mutare, 24 October 2024 – Tenax CS FC bounced back in style to secure a decisive 2–0 victory over Masvingo United at Chisamba Grounds on Friday afternoon, clinching second place in the Pacific Storm Eastern Region Soccer League.

The win came just a week after Tenax suffered a heartbreaking 2–1 defeat to Hunters FC — a result that ended their title hopes. However, coach Blessing Madombi’s men showed grit, pride, and quality as they wrapped up their season with a convincing performance.

After a goalless first half, Madombi’s tactical substitutions in the second half proved decisive. Striker Tatenda Kureti emerged as the hero of the day, scoring twice in quick succession to seal all three points.

“I’m very happy with how the boys played,” said a delighted Madombi after the match. “It was a tough game, but we managed to win. We may have lost the championship, but we fought until the end. We made mistakes along the way, and we’re going to work on them. To the Tenax family, thank you for your support.”

Masvingo United’s camp was left frustrated after conceding two goals in just three minutes, shortly before stoppage time. Head coach Tonganai Mugeji could not hide his disappointment and instead asked team manager Josiah Chekecheke to address the media.

“We lost the game and conceded twice in a short space of time,” Chekecheke said. “We’re going to correct our mistakes and bounce back stronger next season. To the Masvingo community, we promise not to let you down again.”

Match winner Tatenda Kureti, who scored both goals for Tenax, was all smiles after the final whistle, thanking his teammates for their hard work and determination.

With the victory, Tenax CS FC capped off a strong campaign, reaffirming their reputation as one of the Eastern Region’s top contenders. They finished the season with 64 points.
