Mutare, 23 October 2025– The Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) Women’s Network Manicaland Province joined the global community in commemorating Breast Cancer Awareness Month with a fitness and wellness campaign aimed at promoting early detection and prevention of the disease.
The event, held yesterday under the theme “Every Story is Unique, Every Journey Matters,” brought together police officers, health experts, and community members at a colourful ceremony graced by Assistant Commissioner Muyambo, who was the guest of honour.
The gathering was organised in collaboration with the Cancer Association of Zimbabwe (CAZ) to raise awareness about breast cancer, encourage regular screening, and promote healthy lifestyles among women and men alike.
In her keynote address, Assistant Commissioner Muyambo applauded the ZRP Women’s Network for its commitment to health and wellness, saying the initiative complemented the National Development Strategy 1 (NDS1), which prioritises the well-being of all Zimbabweans.
She said breast cancer awareness was not only a health issue but a community responsibility that required everyone’s involvement.
“Awareness surrounding breast cancer is incredibly important as early detection, often through screening, can catch the disease when it is most treatable,” she said.
Muyambo also commended the Cancer Association of Zimbabwe and other presenters for educating participants on the causes of breast cancer, preventive measures, and lifestyle adjustments such as diet, exercise, and stress management.
“To the survivors, we celebrate your strength; to those still fighting, we stand with you; and to those we have lost, we honour your memory,” she added.
The event featured health talks, fitness exercises, and testimonies from survivors, all aimed at encouraging participants to seek regular medical check-ups and support each other in the fight against cancer.
In her closing remarks, Assistant Commissioner Muyambo reminded participants that breast cancer awareness was not just an annual campaign but a continuous movement to empower and educate.
“Breast cancer awareness is not just a campaign; it’s a movement to empower, educate, and inspire. Tell a friend to tell a friend,” she said.
The ZRP Women’s Network Manicaland conducts periodic wellness and empowerment programs for officers and communities, reinforcing the message of healthy living and early disease prevention.
