MUTARE – A man identified as Herbert Hanzu Mutukuwe Gopito from Ward 7, Dangamvura , was reportedly killed yesterday after being assaulted at Boka.
According to witnesses, Hanzu,was walking around the area whistling when an unidentified man struck him with an open hand, leading to his collapse and death on the spot.
Community members say the suspect, described as “a man marked in the circle ,” fled the scene shortly after the incident.
“We should not rush to beat people. Some of these men are drunk from the small beers. Hanzu was slapped and died right there at Boka,” said a witness who was at the scene.
The incident has left residents of Dangamvura in shock, with calls for peace and restraint circulating in local community groups.
Police were reportedly called to the scene to investigate the matter. By the time of publication, no official statement had been released.
