ZACC Rolls Out Nationwide Consultations for Second National Anti-Corruption Strategy

The Wasu Post Reporter

The Zimbabwe Anti-Corruption Commission (ZACC) has embarked on the development of the Second National Anti-Corruption Strategy (NACS2), a five-year framework that will guide the country’s anti-corruption efforts.

The new strategy is being shaped through broad-based consultations across all ten provinces, bringing together government representatives, civil society, the private sector, academia, and the general public.
According to ZACC, the consultations are designed to:

Identify key corruption risks,
Review lessons learned from the first National Anti-Corruption Strategy (NACS1),
Align Zimbabwe’s fight against corruption with the United Nations Convention against Corruption (UNCAC), and
Build national ownership of the anti-corruption agenda.

Stakeholder meetings, focus group discussions, and interviews will be led by ZACC in collaboration with a consultant. The feedback gathered will inform the drafting of the NACS2 framework.

Members of the public are encouraged to participate in the consultations, which begin in Bulawayo on 22 September and will move across the country until mid-October.

The schedule is as follows:
Bulawayo: 22 September – Rainbow Hotel
Gweru: 24 September – Fairmile Hotel
Mutare: 29 September – Golden Peacock Hotel
Harare: 1 October – Monomotapa Hotel
Lupane: 6 October – Top Lodge
Gwanda: 7 October – Apex Lodge
Masvingo: 9 October – Flamboyant Hotel
Chinhoyi: 13 October – University Hotel
Marondera: 15 October – Hope Fay Hotel
Bindura: 17 October – Twin Lodge

ZACC emphasized that broad participation is critical to ensure that the strategy reflects national priorities and strengthens the fight against corruption.
