Honde Valley, Chavhanga Ward 28 – A man identified as Nyakabwi allegedly attempted to forcibly take his children to Mozambique after separating from his wife, Morebressing Mambo.

The incident, which occurred two weeks ago in Muranda Village under Chief Chikomba, has raised concerns over child protection and police conduct.

According to sources, Nyakabwi, who now resides in Mozambique, allegedly paid USD 50 to officers from ZRP Arbefyle to facilitate the removal of the children from their mother’s custody. However, the plan was thwarted when an individual intervened, resisting the forced relocation.

“The police saw what was happening, but I ensured that the children were taken to Sagambe Primary School, where I left them in the care of teachers. I instructed the school staff not to release them to anyone,” said the source.

The incident has sparked outrage, with community members questioning the role of law enforcement in handling such disputes. Efforts to get a comment from ZRP Arbefyle were unsuccessful at the time of publication.

Authorities are being urged to investigate the alleged bribery and ensure the children’s safety.
