Fundraising Dinner for Less Privileged Children Held in Chikanga

Mutare – A fundraising dinner held on Saturday evening at Harlem Hall in Chikanga successfully brought together community leaders and residents to raise funds for the purchase of books and stationery for underprivileged children in Chikanga Constituency.

The event, organized by Fanuel Chinowaita, Privilege, and Precious Washaya, was graced by the presence of Chikanga Constituency Member of Parliament, Hon. Lynnet Karenyi, who served as the guest of honor.

Other notable attendees included Deputy Mayor John Nyamhoka, Councillors Sekai Mukodza, Gift Chatikobo, Patrick Masenyama, Sarah Manjengwa, Itayi Chisoni from Dangamvura Constituency, and Calvin Matsiya from Mutare Central, alongside approximately 80 residents from the three constituencies.

Addressing attendees, Hon. Karenyi expressed gratitude to the organizers and all who contributed financially to the initiative, emphasizing the importance of community support for vulnerable children.

“I commend everyone who has contributed to this noble cause. Your generosity will make a significant difference in the lives of less privileged children in our community,” she said.

The funds raised during the event will be used to purchase books and stationery for vulnerable students from various primary schools in the constituency. Distribution of the items is set to commence in the coming week.

Meanwhile, the organizers have appealed for continued support, encouraging individuals to donate books and other essential items, including sanitary pads, to ensure sustained assistance for the children.

The initiative highlights the growing efforts by community leaders and residents to address educational challenges faced by underprivileged children in Chikanga.
