MURAMBINDA, BUHERA WEST – The ZANU-PF Women’s League launched its district-level empowerment program in Buhera today, targeting women aged 16 and above with skills training and projects aimed at fostering economic independence.
The event, held at Murambinda B Primary School, drew women from all four constituencies of Buhera District. Senior party officials framed the initiative as a direct implementation of President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s vision and a critical step towards achieving national development goals by 2030.
Dorothy Mabika, the ZANU-PF Manicaland Provincial Chairlady, addressed the gathering, urging women to reject self-doubt and recognize their strength and value.
“Women are strong. Thank you, young women, you are growing well supporting ZANU-PF,” Mabika stated. “Don’t look down upon yourself because you are faithful. There is no ugly woman, both in the heart and face. Even if you say this woman is ugly, you will see her pregnant.”
She directly linked women’s participation to national progress: “President needs development. Urges women to support Vision 2030.”
Manicaland Provincial Chairperson Tawanda Mukodza emphasized the political importance of women, calling them the party’s “backbone.”
“ZANU-PF, women are very important, women have the majority… Unite and listen to your leadership,” Mukodza said.
In an interview with The Wasu Post, Mabika outlined the program’s scope, revealing it was launched in Mutare and Buhera is the second district to be covered. The league plans to reach all eight districts in Manicaland.
“There is a program of women empowerment from The President from 16 years and above to every woman. By 2030 every woman will be able to stand for herself. This program will benefit all women in Manicaland,” Mabika said.
Workson Chadambuka, the National Secretary for Women’s Projects, detailed the rollout plan. He stated he was sent by National Chairlady Senator Mable Memory Chinomona and the President to oversee the training.
“This program will start from the village and not based on position. Everyone will benefit,” Chadambuka said, announcing that trainers would be deployed to every village. The cited training areas include poultry, piggery, driving, motor mechanics, and Early Childhood Development (ECD) teaching courses.
Attendees reacted positively to the announcement. One woman at the program said she welcomed an initiative that empowers women. Another woman echoed the same sentiments, highlighting the anticipation for practical skills acquisition.

The event marks a coordinated effort by the ruling party to mobilize and equip its largest demographic bloc ahead of the 2030 deadline for the nation’s upper-middle-income economy aspiration.
